Crop & rotate image

Keep the part that matters. Use Crop & rotate image locally with practical instructions, output settings and format limits.

A practical guide

Crop & rotate image

Remove unwanted edges, isolate a subject or straighten the orientation of a still image. Select a rectangle using the preview or precise pixel coordinates, then apply rotation and flipping to that selection. Save the cropped result as JPG, PNG or WebP for your next task.

  • Remove a screenshot border
  • Create a tighter portrait crop
  • Rotate and mirror a scanned graphic

How to use Crop & rotate image

  1. Load the image

Choose one supported still image and inspect the oriented preview. The coordinates refer to the displayed orientation rather than an unrotated camera sensor layout.

  2. Select a rectangle

Drag a crop on the preview or enter left, top, width and height in pixels. Keep the entire selected rectangle within the image boundaries.

  3. Set orientation and format

Choose any rotation or flip you need and select the output format. Cropping happens first, so rotation changes the orientation of the selected area.

  4. Save the selected area

Run Save cropped image, then inspect the downloaded result. Check that important edges remain visible and that any rotation or mirroring has the intended direction.

Understand the settings

Crop left (px)
Crop left (px) accepts values from 0 to 65535, using whole numbers. The initial value is 0. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Crop top (px)
Crop top (px) accepts values from 0 to 65535, using whole numbers. The initial value is 0. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Crop width (px)

Crop height (px)
Crop height (px) accepts values from 1 to 65535, using whole numbers. The initial value is 1. Change it for a specific output requirement, then check the result before processing more files.
Rotate after cropping
Choose rotate after cropping according to the result you need. Available choices: No rotation; 90°; 180°; 270°. The initial selection is No rotation.

A clean screenshot excerpt

A screenshot includes a useful chart surrounded by browser controls. Select the chart rectangle, leave rotation at zero and export PNG. The result contains only the selected area, ready to insert into a report without the surrounding interface.

Check your result

Drag across the preview to select an area. Pixel coordinates offer the same controls with a keyboard. Rotation and flipping are applied after cropping. The preview uses the image’s display orientation. Animated and multipage images are not supported by these still-image tools. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged.

What to know before you start

  • Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading.
  • The preview uses the image’s display orientation. Animated and multipage images are not supported by these still-image tools.
  • Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB.
  • Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents.
  • Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.

Crop & rotate image: common questions

Are the crop coordinates before rotation?

Yes. The tool selects the crop rectangle from the image in its display orientation, then rotates and flips that cropped region. Enter coordinates for the original preview, not the expected dimensions after rotation.

Can I crop outside the image?

No. Left and top locate the rectangle inside the source, and its width and height must fit the remaining space. A selection extending beyond the image is rejected rather than padded automatically.

Does this crop every animation frame?

This tool accepts still images only and rejects animated or multipage inputs. Use the animation editing tool for GIF, animated WebP or APNG when the crop needs to remain consistent through playback.

Which format suits a screenshot?

PNG is useful for screenshots with text, sharp lines or transparent areas. JPG can reduce photographic file sizes but uses lossy encoding and replaces transparency with white. Inspect small labels after saving either format.

Does Crop & rotate image upload files to another service?

Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory.

Can I continue after changing pages?

Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first.
