# Convert TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 > Browser-only file conversion. Selected files are processed on this device and are not uploaded to a conversion server. Source: https://localconverter.tech/convert-font Convert a font between supported TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 containers while preserving its underlying outlines. Choose WOFF or WOFF2 for a web-font container, or SFNT to restore TTF or OTF according to the original outline flavour. This changes packaging rather than redesigning glyphs or converting CFF outlines into TrueType. ## Useful tasks - Package a supported font as WOFF2 - Restore a web font to its SFNT container - Create a WOFF version for a compatible web workflow ## Steps 1. **Choose one font file**: Upload a supported TTF, OTF, WOFF or WOFF2 font. Check that it is the correct family and style before creating a different container copy. 2. **Select the output container**: Choose WOFF, WOFF2 or SFNT. SFNT produces TTF or OTF according to the original font’s outline flavour rather than forcing a different glyph-outline technology. 3. **Create the converted font**: Run Process document to load and repackage the font. The resulting file is reopened for validation before it is returned as a downloadable font asset. 4. **Test text rendering**: Download the font and test representative text in the intended application or page. Check glyph coverage and weight selection, and keep the source for later packaging choices. ## Settings - **Output container**: Choose output container according to the result you need. Available choices: WOFF; WOFF2; SFNT. The initial selection is WOFF2. ## A font container for a web prototype A project has a supported TTF and needs WOFF2 for its web prototype. Select WOFF2 and convert, then add the new file to the prototype’s font-face configuration. Check representative glyphs, bold selection and text wrapping before adopting the asset. ## Check the result Choose a file, adjust the settings, then download the result. SFNT restores TTF or OTF according to the original outline flavour. Container conversion preserves outlines; it does not convert CFF to TrueType. Open the saved output in the app or workflow where you plan to use it. Check one representative result before repeating the same settings with more files. The original files stay unchanged. ## Limits - Files are processed on this device. Browser memory and engine-specific limits apply. Save results before reloading. - SFNT restores TTF or OTF according to the original outline flavour. Container conversion preserves outlines; it does not convert CFF to TrueType. - Upload one file with a combined size of at most 100 MB. The completed output must fit within 200 MB. - Files are checked by the local engine; a matching filename alone is not proof of valid contents. - Selections and completed jobs stay available while you navigate inside this tab. Use My files to revisit results. Reloading or closing the tab clears the workspace; download results you want to keep first. ## Questions ### Does SFNT always mean TTF? No. SFNT restores an uncompressed font container according to the original outline flavour. A font with CFF outlines produces OTF, while a TrueType-outline font produces TTF, so the expected extension depends on the source structure. ### Can this convert CFF outlines to TrueType? No. The tool converts containers while preserving the original outline representation. It does not redesign glyphs or translate CFF outlines into TrueType curves, so use a dedicated font-authoring workflow for that different kind of transformation. ### Does packaging add missing characters? No. Container conversion retains the font’s existing outlines and supported character coverage. Test the actual text your application needs, since a new WOFF2 extension does not supply glyphs that were absent from the original font. ### Does a successful conversion grant font usage rights? No. The operation creates a technical container copy and does not determine or change the source font’s usage permissions. Use the converted asset within the permissions already applicable to that font and your intended project. ### Does Convert TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 upload files to another service? Processing runs in this browser, on your device. Files and pasted input are not uploaded to a conversion server. The website and required engine assets must load first; large operations depend on available device memory. ### Can I continue after changing pages?
